To start I had to drill my own motor mounding holes in the plates

Becuase I chose to wire the motors throught the arms, it was challenging to line up the motors

I had to custom drill mounting holes to allow the odd mouning to work on anything.

Meet RD34 aka Troubadour, our newest Mikrokopter Bot

Jun
03

RD34 is a reincarnation of the original ARDi Mikrokopter LM-4E.

Some might say it is sacralidge to put a Mikrokopter on a cheap hobbyking frame, but I say only if you crash :)

RD13 aka Icarus, gets a KKFC

Jun
03

At long last, I decided to throw a cheap KK board on a known good airframe and see if I could fly it.

Since I had removed the FC from icarus yet again to accomondate my newer bots due to a shortage of good FCs, I decided to put a KK 5.5 2.1 blackboard with KK4.7 Xcopter fw on it.

Installed the KK then tuned it.

Manually and permanently Reverse a Servo

May
23

Manually Reverseing a servo is actually quite easy if you are comfortable soldering.

  1. Open the servo mechanism and find the motor, it has two wires connected to it, usually red and blue.
  2. Reverse them.
  3. Next you see deeper inside the servo that therre are 3 wires that go to a pot (looks the like the back of a volume control),
  4. reverse the outer two wires.
  5. reassemmble

Thats it.

Adapting RD16 to the TMF Pro FC

May
19

So after RD16 spent about 5 days and nights up on top the roof of the local hockey arena, during the darkest heart of winter, it just never flew right again. I decided to take RD16 back to basiscs and strip off the OpenPilot Copter Control and replace it with a TMF pro.

This is rd16 with OPCC and an Xbee installed.
